Senior Systems Engineer (Technical Lead)

This is NOT a ticket-closing role. We're hiring a hands-on Senior Systems Engineer who will be the technical backbone of Evernet Systems — the final technical escalation point, P1 incident leader, complex project driver, and the person who helps shape our AI-powered service model. In Phase 1 (first 90 days), you hold the fort. In Phase 2 (after 90 days), you step into running our new AI-enabled managed services model that you helped build.
What You'll Do
- 1Act as the final technical escalation point for the entire company across support and projects — own every escalation until resolution
- 2Lead P1 incident response alongside L2 engineers, joining the war room (including outside business hours when escalated) and providing technical guidance until resolved
- 3Serve as the senior technical face of Evernet to clients — translate complex technical issues into clear, business-relevant language for non-technical stakeholders
- 4Lead complex infrastructure projects from design through deployment as the technical project lead, including solution designs and technical documentation
- 5Review and approve all Change Requests (CRs) for critical client systems — assess technical risks, rollback plans, and maintenance windows
- 6Contribute to monitoring stack health — identify alert noise, false positives, coverage gaps, and integrate monitoring insights into daily morning huddles
- 7Review technical documentation and KB articles for accuracy; ensure every novel issue resolved results in an updated KB article within 5 business days
- 8Participate in AI product development — test and validate AI-powered services, deploy to client environments, provide operational feedback, and eventually own the day-to-day operations of the new model
- 9Support pre-sales activities with technical sizing, solution scoping, and attending sales calls when needed
- 10Manage vendor escalations (Microsoft, Fortinet, Veeam, CrowdStrike) and drive vendor TAC cases to resolution
What We're Looking For
- Ownership Mindset — you take full ownership of every escalation and find the path to resolution, even when the answer isn't immediately known (this is the #1 trait we hire for)
- Minimum 5 years' hands-on engineering experience, preferably in an MSP or Systems Integrator environment
- Expert-level Microsoft 365 proficiency (administration, Entra ID, Intune, Defender, Purview, Conditional Access)
- Strong cross-domain capability (L2+) across networking, security, virtualisation, and backup/DR
- Proven experience leading P1 incidents, conducting Root Cause Analysis, and coordinating teams under pressure
- Proven experience designing and delivering complex infrastructure projects end-to-end
- Professional client communication — clear, composed, and confident with non-technical business owners
- Demonstrated willingness to adopt new technologies including AI-powered services; Python proficiency or willingness to learn is valued
- Ability to assess technical risk and act as a practical change management gate
- Singapore-based, on-site (Employment Pass eligible foreigners welcome)
Nice to Have
- MSP background with multi-client SLA-driven service delivery experience
- SME client experience with diverse IT needs and compliance requirements
- ITIL familiarity (incident, problem, change management practices)
- Scripting & automation skills — PowerShell expected; Python or Bash a plus
- Certifications: Microsoft 365/Azure (primary), CCNA, Fortinet NSE4+, Veeam VMCE
- Experience with LogicMonitor custom datasources, NinjaOne policies, HaloPSA workflows, MSPBots reporting
- Pre-sales support experience — technical sizing, solution scoping, and joining sales conversations
